"Paris Street; Rainy Day" - Caillebotte

If you%26#39;ve ever been to the Art Institute in Chicago, you probably remember this very large 7 x 9 foot painting in the Impressionist galleries. Chicago Magazine published a nice article about the painting a few months ago:

To find the location go to google maps and enter, %26quot;Place de Dublin, Paris, France%26quot; - it%26#39;s just north of the Gare St. Lazare. The locale is virtually unchanged today,

Thanks.

This became a favorite painting of mine before I ever thought there was apossibility of going to Paris. It seems to exude Paris. It did likely plant a thought of wanting to go there someday.

One of my favorites too. A very simple street scene, but yet somehow magical. It pulls you right into the canvas.

One of my favorite paintings, also! We took a trip to Chicago just to visit the Art Institute (for the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition). Another awesome painting there is %26quot;A Sunday on La Grande Jatte%26quot; by Georges Seurat (the subject of the show %26quot;Sunday in the Park with Georges%26quot;, which we loved!).
