Ferry, where to stay, what to do....

Hi

We are planning to go to Corsica on honeymoon but I hate flying and are training it as far as Marseille initially.

Ive read a lot of postings but still hav e a few questions if anyone has the time?

I thought our base should be near Ajaccio as my fiancee loves diving and that seems to be the best area for diving?

1, If we go there will we find plenty of beauty within an hour , -beaches and/or mountains .?

2, If we go to Marseille is it a better idea (cost/time) to get the train on to Nice for the ferry or to get a direct one from Marseille?

3, If we%26#39;re on the west coast are we missing anything really special. I notice Porto Vecchio is mentioned a lot, as is the area near it.

4, Quite into kayaking, walking, sailing, diving - as a rule can it be organinsed at fairly short notice (we%26#39;re going 20 september)

Sorry thats a lot of questions but I never seem to have any time to do my own research !! aaaaah.

Thanks

Mark and Kat

Hi,

Can only help with question 1).

We stopped at Ajaccio on a cruise and took a tour into the town and up into the mountains. The town is quite small and and not particularly busy, but lively by Corsican standards. You don%26#39;t have to go very far to find secluded and quite pretty spots. We were up into some wild country within 15 minutes of leaving the port.

If you don%26#39;t like flying, watch the roads too. They are very narrow and precipitous.
