Paris with kids

Travelling as two families with one 11 yr old and one 3 yr old we will be in Paris for 2 nights and then back again for another night after a few days in Euro Disney - so 4 full days in Paris.

On our list of things to do is a River Cruise, Eiffel Tower of course, Louve, Notre Dame, City Bus Tour , Arc de Triomphe and maybe a show at The Moulin Rouge or similar. We are leaving in 7 weeks and I wondered whether I would need to book for these things before we go? Any suggestions would be great, especially travelling with little ones. Are any days better that others to see these sights? We will be in Paris on Sat/Sun/Mon/Sun Thanks so much

Hi:

I don%26#39;t think small children are allowed in the Moulin Rouge so you might have to find another show. (Sorry, I don%26#39;t know of any!)

Definitely add the Jardin du Luxembourg (there may be a marionette show there) and possibly le Jardin des Plantes. If the timing works out, maybe you can go to one of the street markets (like on Rue Mouffetard). I think that would be fun for the kids to see. Have fun!

My 10 year old son loved Paris. He just said this morning that he can%26#39;t wait to go back some day.

My advice for travelling with kids: pay attention to the basic needs. In other words, make sure they get enough food, beverages and rest. Have snacks through out the day. Carry a water bottle. Sit down frequently. Do things at their pace, their legs are shorter and it%26#39;s hard for them to keep up at an adult pace. We don%26#39;t let our kids drink Coca Cola at home but any time we stopped for coffee, they got a Coke. A little caffeine and sugar can do wonders for anyone!

Take along a guidebook or do some research before you go so that you can explain what you%26#39;re seeing and why it is famous or important. It makes a trip more interesting for everyone.

There are a number of threads on this forum with ideas for traveling with children - you might want to do a search on %26quot;Paris with children%26quot; or something along that line, to get more ideas.

The number one tip is to keep the 11 year old involed with the planning since this is a family trip. There are alot of books out there maybe let him/her do some reading on the history an the sites and let them teach you about each of the sites you want to visit(kids always get a kick out of teaching there parents something they don%26#39;t know).

There are some great guide books for just with kids in mind, grab one of those and let him/her read it and show you things they want to see.

Cheers,
