Its a big area - the Loire River itself is about 600 miles long. Which part of the Loire were you thinking about?

I suggest that you check out the Chateau des Ormeaux. We enjoyed our stay there last year. It%26#39;s near the town of Amboise, and we found the location very convenient for touring the Loire Valley region.

Domaine de la Tortiniere is indeed just south of Tours, at Veigné.

I have not stayed there, but have been there for dinner several times, and found it very good.

You are not far from Azay le Rideau, which has a famous chateau, but also some good restaurants. My favourite, for either lunch or dinner, is the Aigle D%26#39;Or.

Montbazon is just down the hill, and has two good restaurants, La Chanceliere and Chateau D%26#39;Artigny.

My favourite restaurant in the South Touraine area is Le Diable des Plaisirs at St Branchs, about 15 minutes by car from Veigné. Excellent for lunch or dinner.

Chinon is a good day trip, being about 30 minutes by car. Visit the old chataeu in the morning, have lunch in the old town, and then visit some vineyards in the afternoon.

We also stayed at the Chateau des Ormeaux and liked it very much. The owners speak english well and are very thoughtful. The place is clean and in a good location for touring the area. The town of Amboise is pretty charming too.
