Just back from Paris!

We were very pleased with the tour company we selected for our sightseiing in Paris- Euroscope. They were prompt and we were driven aound in a small van with just a few others. The guide for our Illuminations tour was rather obnoxious but we enjoyed it anyway. That is a must for anyone visiting Paris!

It was very hot the day we arrived and walking along the Champ Elysees was hot and tiring! There are many delightful sidewalk cafes to eat at as well as some shopping.

Unfortunately, we had a thunder storm with pouring rain when we were at the Eiffel Tower. It wasn%26#39;t raining when we left our hotel so we weren%26#39;t prepared except for rainhats. We wound up buying rain ponchos at a stand there for 10 euroes which normally sell for less than 3 euros elsewhere.

Our favorite on our all day tour was Montmontre which was a quaint village in the hills of Paris. Walking around the cobbelstone streets with the shops and having lunch there was wonderful!

Our hotel was a dissapointment- Hotel Bradford Premier Elysees.

It appeared charming but our room had a very foul smell to it. The location, however, was very good. I have written a review of it.

We found everyone friendly and encountered nothing I have read about. Paris was a typical city and the garbage cans were overflowing everywhere.

The only problem we had was a cab driver who charged us 20 euros to go one mile when we stayed by Orly Airport. Then he took us to the wrong terminal. It was 6 AM and our hotel had called him

so we thought he ould be honest. No way!!!

Enjoy your visit.

It sounds like you had a wonderful visit despite the few disappointments, such as the hotel and that unexpected thunderstorm. Very few experiences can be 100% perfect, and the important thing is that you were left with a generally positive feeling when you returned from Paris.

One of my very favourite places is Montmartre - to my husban%26#39;ds disgust - he thinks it%26#39;s too touristy....but I love the atmosphere.

Intersting about the overflowing garbage cans - I haven%26#39;t encountered that in my last 3 visits- maybe the %26#39;garbologists%26#39; were on strike....

Did you notice many people smoking in cafes etc?

I didn%26#39;t notice anyone smoking near us but I can%26#39;t say for sure.

I did notice a heavy smell of urine in side streets though. That I do remember for sure but it was also present in Rome.
