Dress code for men

Does anyone know if a jacket and tie are required for men at fine dining establishments in Paris and in Provence. My husband feels that it would be a nuisance to pack these!!

It is always handy to have a sportcoat with you just in case you do decide to go to a jacket required place. My husband brings one that even will go with his jeans to dress it up some.

The jacket you can just wear to the plane and lay in the over head. Remeber Paris is a little cool at night right now per the weather I have been looking at. It may come in more handy than first thought.

Cheers,

I found a sport jacket to come in very handy. Even in the %26quot;summer%26quot; months it can get chilly enough for someone to need a light jacket like a sports jacket.

Jacket is required at fine establishments. I have not been to all fine establishments therefore I cannot say for all of them. I went to Taillevent and jacket is required. They do lend jackets out to those who do not have one on. So if your husband does not like to pack, I am sure those nice restaurants can lend one.

Make sure you make reservations ahead of time, especially for dinner. If you have your heart set on a particular restaurant, reservation one month ahead might be needed.

My husband takes a light sport jacket, with a couple of coordinated color silk knit crew neck shirts (silk is very light and comfortable, and also doesn%26#39;t wrinkle - and the fabric offsets the style so it doesn%26#39;t look overly casual). It%26#39;s a great look and very versatile - I would not recommend a shirt and tie, you aren%26#39;t likely to see anyone else wearing that and it%26#39;s not comfortable in summer.
