Trip Planning for European Vacation

I need a little help with trip planning for a family vacation to Europe next summer. We would like to travel to London, Paris, Amsterdam %26amp; the Rhine Valley over 14 days with our two teenage daughters. I would prefer to take trains to move between cities versus driving. Where should we fly in (from the States) and where should we fly out of to head back home? Which trains (Eurostar, Thalys, TGV, etc.) should we take and generally, what order should we visit the above areas? Also, I have heard that Bacharach is a very nice town to stay while exploring the Rhine for a few days – Is this correct? Many thanks in advance for assistance.

Personally it seems a lot to see in 14 days.

Your best bet would probably be to fly in to London and out of Paris, because you%26#39;ll probably have the most direct flights. But I would recommend to play with your itinerary with each city to see what comes out cheaper.

From London you can get to Paris by train, ferry or plane.

The same with Amerstdam. From Amsterdam to Paris you can take a direct 5 hour train ride or a cheap flight from Transavia or EasyJet.

I would recommend doing 4-5 days in London. Paris can take up a whole week, but would recommend doing at least 5 days/

Amsterdam is small and can probably take 3 days, but you may want to do day trips to see the windmills and some nice gardens.

You can do this by train and you%26#39;ll be certain to get a lot of criticism that you%26#39;re not allowing enough time for any one destination. What the heck? If you%26#39;ve got two weeks, you%26#39;ve got two weeks and if you%26#39;re daughters have never been to Europe before, they%26#39;ll get a variety of experiences to whet their appetites for more.

Become friends with the www.bahn.de and www.seat61.com websites to help you plan your train routes. There are a lot of advance purchase deals that I don%26#39;t understand well. But others do, especially the Man in Seat61. I%26#39;d suggest arranging to fly into London and back from Frankfurt. Then you could go London - Paris - Amsterdam - Rhine.
