Buying RER tickets

I am a little confused about buying RER tickets (from Luxembourg to Versailles and Luxembourg to CDG). Is there a person there from whom we buy the tickets? Do we tell them where we are going, or is it a set price, regardless of destination?

Thanks!

We purchased our RER tickets from the Champ de Mars station and yes, there was a person at the ticket booth. We bought the one day Versailles pass which gives you your round trip transportation as well as entrance to all of Versailles. I think it was 20 euros. Hope this helps.

The RER from Paris to CDG is the same price, no matter which Paris station you depart from. (about 8.5€, one way)

The %26#39;forfait loisirs de Versailles%26#39; ticket info is here:

transilien.com/web/…en

The Forfait Loisirs Château de Versailles is a reduced-price pass that offers:

- one return rail ticket (+ metro from Paris),

- one coupon for admission to the Château via the Pavillon Gabriel, with access to:

• the King’s and Queen’s State Apartments,

• the Dauphin’s Apartments, the heir to the throne,

• the Chapel and Louis XIV Galleries,

• The History of France Galleries,

• Marie-Antoinette%26#39;s Estate - Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon,

• at weekends and french public holidays, the Mesdames’ Apartments, the Grandes Eaux Musicales show and the Coach museum.

Note that the RER-C line is closed between Austerlitz and Invalides until around Aug 25

Thanks, travelnutty--you have come to my aid so many times! I appreciate it!

One other question about the Versailles ticket. We will probably not buy the entrance ticket with the RER ticket because we will have the museum pass. Is there any particular way we need to do that?

Hello Nulawlady,

I was in Versailles last Saturday. We had the Paris Museum Pass. You can buy it when you arrive at the airport. With the pass you don%26#39;t have to wait in line for the Caisse %26quot;Cashier%26quot;, but you do need to wait to enter the Chateaux itself. The Pass gives you access to the castle, the Trianons. It does not include the garden nor the %26quot;audioguide%26quot;. At the tourist office of Versailles, they do sell a package for 10EUR for both the garden and the audioguide. It was worth it.
