Nice to Menton

Hi we are going to Menton for the first time, arriving 10.15 am at Nice, have trawled through Google and can not find timetables for trains or buses to Menton, is there more than one train station or bus station? if so which is the easiest method ? We would be grateful for any help that you can give,

Thank you

I%26#39;ve done it by train.

There%26#39;s at least one train station in each place. The busiest one in each place will also be the most central for each place: Nice Ville %26amp; Menton Gare. It%26#39;s very frequent in service, maybe every 15-30 min, a train will come by that will connect you between the two places.

It%26#39;s a very short distance and takes about 30 min only because the regional train will stop in quite a few places like Monaco. Your ticket is good for the entire calendar day too, so you%26#39;re welcomed to get off in Monaco to look around and then hop back on one of the subsequent trains.

There%26#39;s no need for advanced tickets because service is so frequent. The SNCF website spells out the price at just under 5 euros each way.

I have no idea how to get that SNCF website to work in English so bonne chance if you can%26#39;t work it in French.

There is actually a rail station just outside the airport but, for a first time visitor with luggage, the simplest thing is to get bus No99 which leaves from outside both terminals to Nice Ville station and then train to Menton. You need to be aware that there is intermittent strike action on trains at the moment, usually announced a day or two in advance and lasting for about three days. (According to my French friends this is likely to continue more or less for ever)However, I know of no way to check on this before you leave the airport. There is an information desk but I have never found them very helpful!

The other way, which is more reliable and even cheaper than the train, is to get the bus. Bus No98 also leaves from outside the terminals and goes to Nice bus station. You can then get bus No100 which departs every 15 mins (or so) and takes about 40 mins to Menton. The bus ticket, bought from the driver for 4 euros, is a one day pass which takes you all the way.

Both bus and train information can be found on nice.aeroport.fr

Hi there

Don%26#39;t now whether I%26#39;m too late to reply now as you%26#39;ve probably already been to Menton.

If you go to www.sncf.fr this will give you the train times and fares. On the homepage there is a UK flag icon which if you click gives you the whole website in English.

I don%26#39;t now where you are staying in Menton but it be nearer to Menton Garavan station so it%26#39;s worth checking on multimap.com first to see which is the nearer station.

Hope you have a fab trip or had a fab trip :-)
