Clean, tidy, safe hotel for 2 Senior Citizens nr Montmartre?

Hi,

My Mum and her friend are considering a 3 day trip to Paris in the Autumn and I am trying to find them a good deal in a fairly safe area without breaking the bank. Having been to Paris myself, the Montmartre district (some of it!) would appeal to them as they%26#39;d like the pavement cafes and restaurants in the evening without having to use the tube at night.

Can anyone recommend a good one - all the hotels I look at have very mixed reviews and I don;t want them to end up in the red light district.

Get them a hotel near Madeleine.

The area has many buses, (metros too) good restaurants and great shopping.

A 2 stars is the Madeleine Opera, really a good deal for that are of Paris. Many friends have stayed there when they could not stay at my place. An other good one is hotel de l%26#39;Arcade on rue de l%26#39;Arcade (same area). Hotel Folkestone on rue de Castellane and hotel Queen Mary on rue Greffuhle are good options too.

Montmartre is definitely not a practical area for 2 older ladies.

We stayed at the Hotel Muguet (located in the 7th) last year and we loved everything about it. It is in a quiet section of the city......and it is non-smoking, immaculately clean, recently renovated, and near Rue Cler. In addition, it is just minutes from the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. It is priced well too! We made reservations via email with the owner Madame Pelletier. We have recommended this hotel to friends and we woud return in a heartbeat.

Don%26#39;t let the 2-stars fool you. You won%26#39;t find a restaurant, bar, fancy amenities or a spa here...but you will find a great night%26#39;s sleep, a safe area, a super clean room, and easy access to the rest of the city.

Monmartre is not really suitable.

Stayed at Hotel Valadon recently behind Rue Cler and I am certain they would find that area and hotel ideal for them.

Look it up on TripAdvisor.

Loads of v.good restaurants that are in easy safe distance at night.

Hotel has very helpful owners and is run without any fuss.

Very safe and interesting area that is within walking distance of many %26quot;must see%26quot; locations in Paris.

Thanks for all your suggestions - all the hotels mentioned look great......one small problem. They are all fully booked for all of September and October!!!

Is there something happening in paris at that time that anyone knows about?

It%26#39;s really strange. Every hotel I try has no vacancies!

Probably not really strange, more a case of the Rugby World Cup........

Really??? The Rugby World Cup is on in Paris?? Oh dear - not sure my Mother and her friend would like to go at that time anyway then! :-)

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Sainte Beauve and we absolutely loved it. Not overpriced, clean, great staff, and good location. They have a website for your review.

Try the Hotel de Londres Eiffel. Also in the Rue Cler area, but a little further from the metro (but very convenient to the famous #69 bus). Some of the upper floor rooms have views of the Eiffel Tower. We stayed at this hotel in July 2007 and liked it and the neigborhood very much. It was our fourth or fifth choice, but the other hotels that appealed to us more were already booked. I would stay there again.
