Marais 3rd Arrondissement

Am going to Paris the week after Christmas. It looks like we%26#39;ll be staying the 3rd arrondissent on Quincampoix street, near the Pompidou Center.

How%26#39;s the area? It lloks great and close to most things.

Rue Quincampoix is a narrow pedestrian street crossing the bustling rue Rambuteau, which is filled with cafes, grocery shops and all kinds of other establishments. If you%26#39;re in the 3rd you%26#39;re at the northern end of rue Quincampoix as it also extends into the 4th (which is to the south). I think it stays quite busy in the evening too.

It%26#39;s one street away from the Centre Pompidou, which can be an interesting area. (Personally I think the building is a bit over-rated but I used to walk along rue Rambuteau to work every day some years ago so perhaps its charms diminished with familiarity. So it%26#39;s got heating ducts on the outside. Is that really so amazing? A lot of people think it is as it used to be the most visited tourist attraction in Paris, I believe, and it%26#39;s still pretty popular.)

Plenty of activity to watch in the area. Sit in a cafe and watch the people go by. Do you know the film %26quot;Three men and a baby%26quot;? The French original on which it was based, %26quot;Trois hommes et un couffin%26quot;, was filmed about 100 yards away, if I remember rightly on rue Rambuteau.
