Middlebury College center?

My niece is doing a semester abroad in Paris this fall. She will be staying with a host family near the Middlebury (Vermont) College center. We would like to visit while she%26#39;s there. Does any one know where this is? Can you recommend reasonably priced accomodations (hotel or rental apartment)? We might have to come Christmas to New Year%26#39;s. What is Paris like at that time? Are we too late to even think about it?

There are lots of threads on the forum about Christmas and New Years in Paris - generally there is agreement that it%26#39;s a good time to visit (among other things, most museums, etc., are not very crowded). I%26#39;ve been there at that time of year and liked it - but you need to book now, because it%26#39;s sufficiently popular that the popular tourist hotels do book up. There are many apartment rental agencies you can find through a search on the forum - a number of threads have compilations of names and web addresses.

As to the Middlebury College center, I have no idea - I would suggest contacting the college for that, as it could be a very small place that not too many people will have noticed if not looking for it specifically.

Have a good trip!

cb48: In visiting the Middlebury College%26#39;s website, it appears the %26quot;Middlebury Center%26quot; is at the %26quot;Centre Madeleine%26quot;. So, the school is near the Madeleine Church area in the 8th arrondissement.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your answers. Any recommendations for lodging in this area? If I read a map correctly, we should be within walking distance of many %26quot;major%26quot; sites.

Most peopole probably would recommend staying in arrdt. 1-7 (which would allow you to walk to most places you would want to see, and also should put you within easy reach of several Metro lines). You can do a hotel search on the site, and sort that way. Apartment rental sites also will tell you which area you would be in.
