Weather in France January

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like in January in Paris and Nice. Will there be snow, does it rain every day and all day, is the wind icy and freezing?

Also are there a lot of things closed due to the winter weather?

Obviously it is best to travel when the weather is warmer but due to work committments January is best but just need to decide if it is worth the expense to travel from Australia.

Thanks

Who can tell given the weather we have had across Europe this year.

In either place it is not going to be that nice.

In Paris it will be cold with a good possibility of rain perhaps snow.

Nice will be milder with sunshine but it will not be that warm.

Both cities are large working cities so nothing will be closed .

Personally I would save my money until you are able to come in the warmer months eg spring and late summer when there is so much more to see and enjoy.

However if you are a skiier there is some good skiing in the French Alps - if it snows that is.

Thanks Boucheboy but it is this time of the year that Australian Uni%26#39;s have the longest holidays so there is not a lot of choice in the time of the year I travel.

Can you recommend some good French Ski Resorts that are not too expensive? We are still beginners when it comes to snow skiing.

Thanks

They are all similar but some are very fashionable.

If beginners I would suggest somewhere like Morzine near Geneva.

Thanks I will check it out.
