Hi All
My Dad will be flying to Paris Beauvais for the France v Ireland Rugby World Cup Game on Sep 21st, 2007. Can I please get some advise on the best way to get from the Airport to SdF? Does he need to go into central Paris? In addition, the game is on quite late at night and he will only spend one night in Paris. Is it worth him staying locally close to SdF, or is it best to return to Central Paris? As he%26#39;s travelling on his own, I want to plan the trip for him and really appreciate any advise, tips, dos and donts. Merci!

Hello
Your dad is very lucky to be going to such an excellent game!
I assume that he%26#39;s flying into Paris Beauvais on RyanAir or one of the other low-cost operators. Beauvais is quite a way out from central Paris but it%26#39;s well connected thanks to bus services (some operated by RyanAir I believe) that run to and from Porte Maillot, which is on the line 1 metro. It should be quite easy to pick up a bus directly at the airport and it probably won%26#39;t cost much more than 10€. The ride takes about 45mins if the traffic isn%26#39;t too bad.
From Porte Maillot to Stade de France is quite straightforward: catch line 1 metro to Chatelet, then change and get the suburban train (RER) line B northbound to Plaine Saint Denis. It%26#39;s all well sign-posted, a one-way ticket is about 3€.
Though the airport-stadium trip isn%26#39;t particularly complicated it%26#39;s probably good for him to leave a good three hours or more between landing and match time as the trains can get delayed on match nights.
I would definitely advise against staying near SdF as it isn%26#39;t a particularly nice neighbourhood -- not much to see and dodgy in some areas at night. The best is to opt for a hotel in central Paris, somewhere along the RER Line B for easy transit. For cheap hotels stay near Gare Du Nord or for posher hotels check out Luxembourg. Wherever he stays, be sure to book very soon as hotel rooms will be hard to find as the big event approaches!
