Hi all,
I want to go to the Langeudoc area after a few days in Paris. Is it better to go by train/air/car? The only hesitancy I would have about a car is that my french is awful despite many lessons. I guess I just don%26#39;t have the knack. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks to all!

Why not get the TGV from Paris to Avignon and hire a car from there perhaps taking in a little of Provence before you go to the Languedoc.
Car hire and language is not a problem if prebooked and in my experience most of the teams in the hire company booths speak English - have the basic yes , no, please and thank you in French it all helps

Well, that is not a bad idea but there is not enough time. I think Provence deserves a separate trip all on its own, don%26#39;t you? I figure that the people in the car hire place will speak English it is the people in the smaller towns and villages that I think will not and I like to get off the beaten path and explore. Don%26#39;t get me wrong, I do not think they should speak English its just that I am not much of a linguist and have tried to learn French but am not good at it and want to see more of the countryside!
Thanks,
Saffie

English is widely spoken in the region - in one of our local restaurants last week as I murdered the French language the waiter replied to me in perfect English. When I asked him why he did that as I was trying to practice my French he replied in a very good humored way that it was %26quot;because my French was so bad!%26quot;
Have a good trip

Thanks for the info. I guess it will give me the opportunity to practise my bad french!

Hi
I%26#39;d second the train/car rent option.
BTW, many parts of Languedoc are exclusively French.
Even better for learning ?
