We are leaving for France in 3 weeks and will buy some euros here in the US. At present rate is 1.45. What is the current value of the euro in France?

The rate of the euro to the dollar is the same in the US as it is in France. Your bank is charging you more. At most, buy 50 Euros in the US and then get what you need in an ATM when you arrive.

Citibank will sell you Euros at 1.4476 Dollars on 08/13/07 (if you can talk them into preferred rate - it is 1.4306). Two years back in Rome, Italy I%26#39;ve got the best rate with cash at some (not all) of the small Cambio (Exchange) places. But be careful, some offer astronomical exchange rates and / or commissions, so ask or look at their rates first. Eugene.
