Macarons in Atlanta!

like many others on this board, we returned from our recent trip to Paris hooked on macarons! after hunting online for a recipe (which i did finally find, btw!), hubby found a local bakery in Atlanta that sells chocolate macarons - it%26#39;s called Joli-Kobe on Roswell Rd for those of you who live in the area. the macarons weren%26#39;t quite as tasty as those from Laduree, but they were quite good!

There is a good recipe from Bon Appetit on Epicurious.com

I have a college friend living in Paris who used to be the pastry chef at Chez Panisse... He has an exhaustive description of the trials and errors he went through perfecting the macaron (including the consultation from the specialist at Fauchon) on his site... You may have to look back awhile - it was in October. davidlebovitz.com

there%26#39;s also a good one on david lebovitz%26#39;s website! it%26#39;s just easier to stop by the bakery! :)

David Lebovitz is a doll...

he seems like it! i only wish i had found his website BEFORE our trip last month! i%26#39;ve already planted the seed in hubby%26#39;s ear about going back for one of david%26#39;s chocolate tours. [evil grin]

He certainly gets around!

The bakery you are referring to also makes the best croissants in the Atlanta area. By best for the area, I mean certainly not up to Paris, or even NY or C%26#39;go bakery standards, but good for here..... Liz

I%26#39;ve found that the recipe from Pierre Herme is excellent.

I don%26#39;t know if it can be found online, but he does have several books which should have the recipe........I know his chocolate book has the recipe for chocolate macarons and they are heavenly!

I will finally be visiting his shop (my %26quot;church%26quot;!) in September......and can%26#39;t wait! I%26#39;m sure it will live up to every expectation!

Cheers!
