I will leave for Paris on wednesday and then on saturday Im going to this wedding in Blois. I spent the whole day today trying to find a dress, think Ive been to 20 stores, I even went to HM (this store has pretty bad rep. in sweden) and absolutly no luck, I saw some great dresses if the wedding would have been in the winter, but for summer nothing, or actually I found to good dresses, one black and one white so with the only two colors I can not have for a wedding. So now I have no choice but to buy the dress in Paris. The problem is that I have no idea where, so thats why I would be very thankfull for some help. My dream is to get a simple halterneck dress in silk or silklike material thats very thin and follows the body. I can pay maximum 150 euros but would be happy if it ended up around 100 Euro. Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance, I will travel to Paris dressless so i guess you can kind of see my desperation!

I don%26#39;t have specific stores to suggest but I would suggest looking at the stores in the Marais. I remember seeing several cute dresses in the windows there and the sales might still be in progress. Good luck and have fun!

Not sure of your age group (so don%26#39;t know what might appeal) but, I recall that on this forum there was a thread about %26quot;mother of the bride%26quot; dresses, which yielded a lot of general comments about dress stores, and also there have been some threads about shopping for teen girls which yielded comments about stores, so between the two you might find some that would suit?

If you don%26#39;t want to spend a lot of time looking for a dress in boutique stores, you could do worse that go straight to Printemps, 64, boulevard Haussmann, which has several floors of women%26#39;s fashion at all prices. Make sure you take your foreign passport and get a 10% discount*, by collecting a discount card at customer services or print one off here:
…printemps.com/services/discount/index.aspx
* This discount is independent of any tax rebate for non-EU citizens.

If you go to Printemps in Blvd Hausmann then you will be right by 5-6 big department stores. You will see lots of dresses, you just have to find the best price among them.

Oki, I dont like those departmentstores, but I guess I have no choice, everything else is too spread out. I love to shop in Paris, but not when I need a specific thing and have very limited time... Im swedish so no discount for me.

Thanx I will check it out right now! i guess both will work, the kind of dress I want is the kind that would fit both on someone who is 15 and someone who is 50! I will also try to call some fench friends as soon as I get there, would be lovly with a store that specificly sells this kinds of dresses, I find my way to all the big malls, but the clothes there are so boring or very expensive, I usually stand G L, P etc fr about 20 minutes and then I have to leave. I also feel the stress gets me in a bad mood, that and beeing hungry really brings out the worst in me, I already see the scenario Im going to be angry and frustrated, think that all the dresses are ugly, fight with my boyfriend (who I will force to come along), complain about how bad paris is for shopping (something thats extremly far from the truth, cause actually its great) and end up with a dress I dont like;)

If you look on some of the threads on the upscale resale shops , I believe there was one from Phread about a year ago, you will find some place where you can find very unique clothing that might suit your purposes.
I have never been to Lund but there were many shops in Stockholm when I was there about 5 years ago that had great clothing.
There were also several small shops last June on the left bank just off the area where the Pont Neuf and the Pont des Artistes cross from the right bank and up along Blvd St Germaine. They had great looking clothes. Of course, there is the area on Honore but the prices may be higher than you wish to spend.
Incidentally, here in the U.S. it is OK to wear Black as a guest but not White although Ivory is also OK.
But if you are really pressed for time would suggest Galerie Lafayette.

Maybe you could try La Vallée Shopping Village at Val d%26#39;Europe. It%26#39;s a very pleasant place where you find many designer stores with at least 30% discounts. They have very nice dresses, especially at Kenzo, or Cacharel (there are many mors). And if you don%26#39;t find anything there, you can still go to the regular shopping centre next door (Centre Commercial Val d%26#39;Europe).
The only problem: it%26#39;s not in central Paris, but 40 minutes from Chatelet-les-Halles station with RER A (Val d%26#39;Europe stop, just before Disneyland)

Hello Jujube 81 ...
What is the roundtrip cost on the RER A from central Paris to Vallee Village?
Thank you.

Please read my post again and sorry if my English is not clear:
If you are Swedish and you have a Swedish passport, you ARE entitled to a 10% *DISCOUNT* at Printemps - and Gallerie Lafyette. Both of these stores offer an incentive to ALL foreign visitors.
I saved 30 euros by showing my British passport.
This is not the same as the VAT *TAX* rebate available to non-EU residents.
I agree shopping in Printemps is not fun, but it can save time for other things I would rather do in Paris than buy clothes.
Anyway, I hope you find your dress.

I had forgotten about Phread%26#39;s thread on shopping - I agree, look it up because there was a lot of information there.
