booking normandy need advice

hello,

a group of 4 of us wil be in Paris October 24th. we want to go to Normandy and the American Cemetary and have explored the booking options online. We prefer to wait and just book once we are there, maybe through our hotel or something. We would like to go in one of the van tours with a guide and maybe learn about the country on the trip there, one that picks up and drops off at our hotel. Any suggestions would be appreciated and if you think it may be necessary to book before we leave. we prefer not to, because we might want to shift our sightseeing days around.

thanks so very much!

I recommend booking inadvace with Parisvision or Cityrama. We went with Cityrama on one of the big buses. they took us to the museum, where we had a nice lunch then on to the beaches. We stopped at the American Cemetary and then at a small town I cannot remember the name of. We bought souveniers and snacks there for the ride back to Paris. We felt it was worth doing. If we%26#39;d had more time I would have enjoyed renting a car and exploring the area more. it is really beautiful.

I have friends who took the train to Normandy and then had a private guide meet them. I%26#39;m not sure haw they did this though.

A few years ago we booked a trip to the Loire Valley at our hotel with Parisvision. They picked us up at the hotel in a minvan. It was a great day bu much more costly than meeting at their office and going with a larger group. For us I would not spend the extra money. The guieds on the big buses are just as good as the ones on the smaller tours.

The only reason I suggest booking ahead is that we tried booking the tour to Givency last time we were in Paris and it was sold out the day we wanted to go.
