Degas figurines?

Hi,

Degas is probably my favorite artist. When I was in Paris in June I ramdomly passed a store that had some figurines that reminded me of the ones I saw in Orsay. However, I don%26#39;t know the name of the store or the street it%26#39;s on (only that is%26#39;s near Sacre Coeur in the 18th).

Then I though maybe Degas figureines are popular in Paris. I%26#39;d LOVE to get a replica of the 14-year old dancer. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find one and how much I should expect to pay?

Thanks in advance,

LVJ

Did you have a look at the Musée d%26#39;Orsay shop? They have several Dégas figurines available (roughly 40 cm in height), around € 300. You even can order them online - though that size might be expensive to ship.

Wow, that%26#39;s expensive! I was hoping nothing more than 50 euros. . .yikes! I saw some on ebay for around that price, but I%26#39;m sure that quality is better at Orsay. Still, I%26#39;ll check the link out.

We found a very nice 12%26quot; replica of the little dancer through Toscano - a mail order company. Don%26#39;t have any other info but try a web search. I believe it was $25-30.

Just have a look on eBay too - there are plenty of Degas replicas on offer, for well below $100.

The shop of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (www.mfa.org) has also several Degas replicas, in prices ranging from $35 to $2995.

As noted, miniatures of various Degas sculptures...(less expensive ones of cast-resin, as well as bronzes)...particularly the ballerina studies (what better gift for a girl taking ballet lessons??...okay, maybe she%26#39;d rather have a Mustang connvertible but...) and the horse studies...are widely available from a number of sources in the US and worldwide...more often than not through larger art museum gift shops %26amp; catalogs. But...if you wish to imbue some greater significance to the purchase by buying one while you%26#39;re in Paris, they will also be available in some of the museum shops there as well....as you might expect, at the MUSÉEshop.

There%26#39;s a %26#39;stand-alone%26#39; RÉUNION des MUSÉES NATIONAUX shop, located in the upper-6éme--Saint Germain des Prés at:...10 rue de l%26#39; Abbaye (just in from rue Boneparte...behind Église Saint Germain des Prés), 75006, Metro Saint Germain des Prés where you can probably find Degas miniatures.

Thanks for the replies. If I don%26#39;t see anything in m y price range in Paris, I will simply wait until I get to the states. I guess I am looking for nice Parisian touches to add to my home. I%26#39;ll just have to browse around and see what I can find.
