checking luggage on the TG

I will be taking the TGV from Paris to Lourdes in September. This may sound like a dumb question, but do you check your luggage or do you carry it with you into your car? And do they have porters to assist you.

Thanks

Carry it with you up into the entrance vestibule of each car. There are luggage racks to store your bags en route.. For smaller items--carry-on totes, bags and packages, etc---there are overhead racks above the seats within the passenger section of the car. If you%26#39;re paranoid about luggage theft, then carry a lightweight %26#39;..cable lock..%26#39; to secure your bags to the rack (of course any determined thief with a pocket wirecutter can defeat this...but you%26#39;ll feel much better).

This caused me some concern on my first couple of trips, but it%26#39;s always been fine - best advice, don%26#39;t put anything you really can%26#39;t lose into the bag you leave in the luggage area. If you%26#39;re really concerned about someone maybe walking off with your bag (whether deliberately, or by accident) you can walk back to that area and just hang out when the train stops at stations, until it starts up again (since your seat will be reserved, no problem with someone taking it). Most of the TGV lines have only a few stops, so it would not mean jumping up and down a lot.

On some trains there also is space for some luggage storage in the middle of the car, but that%26#39;s not a given so don%26#39;t lug it there only to find out there%26#39;s no space! If your luggage is %26quot;rollaboard%26quot; size, you might be able to get it into the overhead rack, but it%26#39;s quite a bit higher up than on a plane so won%26#39;t work if it weighs quite a bit.
