paris hotel check in deposit

Staying at Novotel Les Halles and the room has been paid for in full as a present from my parents. I have noticed that some hotels require a credit card as deposit when checking in. Is this the case even when you have paid in full?

We do not own credit cards and I have emailed the hotel but no contact. I have been told they may accept a cash deposit but of how much does anybody know as this will seriously eat into our available spending money.

Any comments grately appreciated as we are leaving on 20/8

Most likely, the credit card is in the event of incidental expenses charged to the room (for instance, the breakfast often is extra). I would think that a cash deposit would work, if neither you nor your parents have a credit card that can be used. You might want to try calling the hotel if you don%26#39;t get a response to your e-mail.

You should be able to agree with them at check in that you can%26#39;t charge anything to the room, and they should not then need a deposit. They are not going to turn you away anyway! Enjoy your trip.
