Hotel Lutetia and area

My mother and I are staying at the Hotel Lutetia soon, and I%26#39;m keen to hear any local cafe/restaurant/bar recommendations!or any other good ideas for the area...

She is in her 60s and not in great health, but we are up for a good Parisian %26quot;non naff Tourist%26quot; experience!

I thought you meant the Hotel Lutece on Ile St Louis (an area I love) but when I did a search it appears this may be the one blvd Raspail? If so, be sure you read the reviews because there are some strong opinions both ways. (Sorry, that%26#39;s not an area I know well - hopefully, others can answer more questions.)

Hi Cellista,

You are right talking about the Lutetia on the Blvd Raspail. It is one of the more famous luxury hotel of Paris, not far from St Germain des Prés, in front of the famous store called %26quot;Le Bon Marché%26quot; %26#39;which is not at all %26quot;bon marché%26quot; (=good value) actually..)

Many things to do in this area and many good typical restaurants...

Major thing to do : Shopping !

Famous locations in this area : Odeon, St Sulpice church, Saint Germain des Prés, Quartier Latin, Odéon, Le Panthéon, Tour Monparnasse, not so far from Cathédrale Notre Dame and the townhall...

Famous restaurants : Atelier de Joel Robluchon (rue du bac), %26quot;Ciel de Paris%26quot; at the top of the Tour Monparnasse, %26quot;Le Procope%26quot; at Odeon... (www.bestrestaurantsparis.com/recherche.php…)

Famous cafe : Cafe de Flore (M° St Germain des Prés), Cafe Mabillon (M° Mabillon), les deux magots (St Germain)...

Famous gourmet places : La Durée (rue Bonaparte), Boulangerie Poilane (rue du cherche midi), rue de Buci...

We have not stayed at the Lutetia but had friends who did last June. My friend is in her 70s and she and her family had two rooms and thought both were great. They liked the breakfast in the hotel which was included in their rate and also the area. The hotel has elevators and a nice lobby. We visited with them and thought it was a busy hotel but with nice amenities.

Le Lutecia is a great beautiful older hotel and is frequently reviewed on the board (do a search). It is on the left bank in a very lively area of Paris with many shops and restaurants near by. Metro is right at the door and you can also catch a few buses on rue de Rennes.

I like restaurant Helene Darroze on rue d%26#39;Assas.

Also popular is the Brasserie right in the hotel, l%26#39;Epi Dupin on rue Dupin, and since you will be able to walk to Saint Germain and to Blvd du Montparnasse, you will find many cafes, brasseries and restaurants on the way.

There is a market on Blv Raspail a few times a week and a bio market on Sunday.
