Which area or hotel would you recommend? It will just be my husband and myself traveling. Something no more than $200 per day would be great. Almost forgot, how many days would be needed to see Paris. To all those that contribute to Tripadvisor.. thank you so much. It%26#39;s great when everyone tells you there little %26quot;secrets%26quot; when traveling. Have a great weekend... we are heading to the beach (South Padre Island) with some friends that are coming over. Texas is HOT!!

Although I had traveled to Paris several times, my husband had not. So, the first visit for him took some painstaking research. We chose the Hotel Muguet, mainly because it was in a quiet area and it was near the Eiffel Tower. In addition, we wanted a view of the tower from our room. ..and we got it! The Hotel Muguet was recently renovated, super clean.... and it is non-smoking. They have a very informative website....but reserve a room EARLY because this hotel fills up quickly. You could spend a lot less per night than $200 for a regular double room at the Muguet, but if you really want a bit more room, order a triple...then you would hit the $200 limit. Another hotel nearby that is very clean and popular is the Hotel du Champs de Mars. It would be an even better price They are both close to the E. Tower, the Seine, Invalides, and the market street of Rue Cler. Yes, there are a lot of other areas to stay in, but the 7th arrondissement has become a special place for us.

If you can go to Paris for at least a week do it, this way you can leisurely stroll around and take some day trips. If not then I would say 5 days will allow you to see most of the high lights.
For first time visitors, I would say to pick somewhere near the Champs Elysees because it%26#39;s easy walking distance to so many attractions, if not then the Eiffel, Latin Quarter or Marais are all good locations too, pretty much anywhere near the center.
I haven%26#39;t stayed at this hotel but have heard some good things and the pics look really nice www.eiffelseine.com

These walking tours are a great way to get to know some of the areas of Paris, the Marais, the Latin Quarter, etc ...
…compuserve.com/homepages/pariswalking/
They are 10.00 euros / person, led by bi-lingual guides and last approx 2 hours. You just have to find the appropriate metro stop from which the tour starts then you are set. Note that not all tours are given every day and it is nice to take a morning tour and return on your own in the afternoon. I particularly liked the Walk in Hemingway%26#39;s Paris.

After staying in or near the Latin Quarter several times over the last 20 some odd years, I opted this past July to try the Rue Cler area. The Rue Cler has many fans, not the least of which is Rick Steves. Mr. Steves has quite a few devoted followers and he warns you in his guide books that the Rue Cler sometimes seems to be overrun with them. This was not the case when we were there. We found the area to have the feel of a real neighborhood, including neighborhood restaurants and cafes. We stayed in the Hotel de Londres Eiffel. It was clean, well maintained with pleasant and helpful staff. It gets good reviews here on TripAdvisor. It was not my first choice, more like fourth or fifth, but the other hotels (including the Muguet) were already fully booked. The Londres Eiffel would now be my first choice, should I return to Paris. It was tad further from the metro than some of the other hotels, but very convenient to the famous #69 bus. We had two rooms, each was below $200.
