Hi alan10
you will love Honfleur, it is such a pretty and relatively unspoilt place by the sea - it is full of people though!
You will not have a problem with Restaurants, the Old Harbour area is heaving with them, and they all look pretty damn good! Back street Restaurants work hard to compete!
Have a look in the old wooden church, it%26#39;s really beautiful, and take a walk out to the mouth of the Seine Estuary, and a second walk to the Beach (but avoid the marsh area - dangerous quicksands! - it is well signposted though)
If you have a car I would definitely drive inland a bit - the Calvados region has beautiful old farmhouses, and it%26#39;s a great area for buying Calvados, cider and cheese. Deauville %26amp; Trouville are nearby enough to make easy visits, but it%26#39;s worth taking a day and going to Arromanches and Bayeux if you want to drive a little further afield.
France does not really do %26#39;pubs%26#39; but you can easily have a beer or glass of wine at any of the restaurants, very nice at %26#39;twilight%26#39; sitting by the Harbour.
It is a lovely area of France, enjoy

Couldn%26#39;t agree more withe the previous post, I have just returned from Honfleur and it is great.
Bayeax is well worth a vist.
So is Rouen also.
We also went to Versailles outside Paris which was great. If you are driving to Paris you could stop off at Claude Monet gardens which are well worth a visit.
But really, you could easily spend 4 days wandering around Honfleur soaking up the atmosphere.
enjoy!

Have been to Honfleur a couple of times - quickest and easiest way to get to there from Calais is by autoroute via abbeville (stopping at Neufchatel en Bray for lunch)
The train takes 2 1/4 hours to Paris and there are 4 trains a day each way, the last returning from Paris at 18.45
I recommend la Tortue in honfleur restaurants-honfleur.com/… as a place to eat - good value, imaginative menus.

There are also a couple of bars on the harbour front that stay open pretty late, past midnight. I don%26#39;t know if the train times that the previous poster gave you is for Sundays because 2 hrs 15 is the usual time to Paris and I would suspect that on a Sunday the trains will be slower as they will stop at more stations. The cost is only about 22 euros each way though. The restaurants in the square by the old wooden church are also very good (probably better value than some on the harbour) but they obviously lack the view.
September is a perfect time to go as the Parisian crowds will have dispersed but you could still have extremely nice weather - it%26#39;s about time we had some this year!!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - we will be in Honfleur for four days in late Sept. Could someone suggest a website for booking the train from Paris to Deauville ? We need to travel from Deauville to London by train - any ideas for an affordable option ? should we just go back to Paris and take the chunnel ?
many thanks !
