gare du nord to paris montparnasse

We are arriving at gare du nord eurostar and need to be at paris montparnasse 35 minutes later. Is this possible? What is the best way to achieve this?

It%26#39;s going to be tight but theoretically possible if everything gels.

Allow 10 mins to transfer from Eurostar to metro line 4 (allowing for ticket purchase), and 15 minutes on the train. Depending on where you have to be you have 10 minutes to transfer at Montparnasse. Not sure if a cab will be any quicker.

Good luck

well you need time to get off the train and go to the line 4, so that would be up to 15 minutes including the time to get your bearings, locate the direction and buy the tickets.

You need line 4 direction Porte d%26#39;Orléans. I guess from there you have roughly 15 minutes ride as there are 14 stations to go...

So pretty tough if your Eurostar was delayed even by just 10 minutes!

i forgot to mention that the line 4 of the metro runs underground, you will need something like ten minutes to go up from the métro to the platforms where regular trains depart.

Don%26#39;t think a taxi could do any better though, as there will be a line at the taxi rank

If this is a critical connection (and I assume that it is), it might be worth the expense of arranging for a private car service to meet you at the train and take you directly to Gare Montparnasse.

|||

Just to clarify, you take the metro direction Porte d%26#39;Orleans, as mentioned, but be sure to *get off* at %26quot;Bienvenue-Montparnasse%26quot;. Try buying your metro tickets in the bar-car while still on the Eurostar. Sometimes they sell them. If not, when you get into the hall at Gare du Nord, go directly to the ticket windows (billets) - don%26#39;t let anyone intercept you, offering to %26#39;help%26#39; with tickets, just keep walking. (con men)...

|||

Absolutely NOT unless you have done it before and have all the infos in your head and the tickets in your hand !

|||

If you had time and some familiarity with the public transportation system, the Metro connection between Gare du Nord and Gare Montparnasse might be an option...but there is a long CORRESPONDANCE between the Eurostar arrival platforms and the departurre platforms for the #4 Metro platforms at the large Gare du Nord station complex...and then another long ubderground CORRESPONDANCE between the arrival platforms for the #4 Metro ligne and the SNCF / TGV portion of the sprawling Gare Mantparnasse station.

This is one of those times when discretion is probably the better part of valour and simply taking a TAXI PARISIAN from the regular taxi rank at Gare Montparnasse (end of Eurostar arrival platform...turn right onto main station concourse,...then straight ahead).

|||

Personally I would take a later train from Montparnasse if one is available, or at least make sure the ticket can be used on a later train if you do miss it.

|||

If you want to get your Metro tickets before you arrive (which I would recommend as the lines for tickets at Gare du Nord are usually massive) you can purchase them at London Waterloo at the information desk near the Eurostar boarding gates. This might save you a little bit of time, but as to the rest of the journey in that time... You%26#39;ll need a bit of luck, I%26#39;d say!

I%26#39;m with Faux. Take a later train because 35 minutes is not enough time to do this. Also, DO NOT take Metro line 4 under any circumstances. As KDK points out, the Eurostar platform and line 4 aren%26#39;t close and the walk from the Line 4 platform to the Grand Lignes/TGV platforms at Gare Montparnasse is nearly a kilometer, up and down a lot of stairs. A taxi might work but the Eurostar arrivals make for long queues at the Gare du Nord taxi rank. You could burn the entire 35 minutes waiting to get into a taxi. I wouldn%26#39;t risk it.
