Anywhere with free wireless internet

We will be in Paris in mid-September and are planning to usre Skype on the computer to call home. Our hotel has the internet but I don%26#39;t think it is free, so I was wondering if there were any places around Paris to get free wireless internet, preferrably close to our hotel, which is Hotel du Theater, 5 Rue de Cheroy.

My partner and I had a lot of trouble finding a free wireless in Paris whilst we were there. We found a connection on the Champs Elysees and sat on a bench, but that is not recommended!

Apparently, MacDonalds tends to have free wi-fi connections, however. We couldn%26#39;t bring ourselves to go in to one, but that might be a good spot to try. You can also find a number of cafes that offer free wi-fi, but you have to look out for them.

Finally, there is now a free %26#39;city wide%26#39; network, which you can read about here:

Hope that helps, enjoy your visit!

Search the forum for %26quot;free wireless%26quot; or %26quot;free internet%26quot; or %26quot;free wifi%26quot; etc and other threads with suggestions will come up.

What in the world is wrong with utilizing a convenient McDonalds to further your own ends? Have you heard the phrase %26quot;cut off your nose to spite your face%26quot;?

Hi Travelnutty

Maybe the other poster does not like feeling obliged to buy a frappuccino?

There are other free wifi options in Paris

Most of the Starbucks outlets also have free WiFi, if you prefer that to McDonalds.

Otherwise you can try the Frog Pubs -- there%26#39;s one on the Rue Saint Denis near Etienne Marcel metro, another on Rue de la Princesse in the 6th and a third near Bercy.

A number of free wi-fi spots should be opening in various parks and by the city hall (hotel de ville) sometime in August, though I don%26#39;t know exactly when. If you can read French there%26#39;s more details in the article below.

Well, Travelnutty, as I said we found a wi-fi connection which meant we didn%26#39;t have to spend money in the cr*p hole that is MacDonalds.

Thanks for your comment tho%26#39;, I%26#39;ll bare that in mind next time...
