Prior to finding this board, we rented an apartment in the Montparnasse area. I%26#39;ve gone to Mappy and a few other resources, but I can%26#39;t seem to figure out what is surrounding us in this neighborhood (or if it%26#39;s not an area we would want to stay). Can anyone advise? I%26#39;ve included a link:

Thank you! And yes, I realize I should have checked this out before placing a deposit, but I got mesmerized by the view of the Eiffel Tower and somehow the checkbook came out before I knew what was happening.

Maybe this link can help you:

You can also type the street number and streetname - and see what your neighbourhood looks like here.

These are some of the streets around your apartment (Blvd. Pasteur, Rue de Vaugirard, Avenue de Breteuil):

The view is amazing!
I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy the neighborhood. I would recommend studying the bus routes - a much more pleasurable way to get around than the metro. There are buses to everywhere from the front of the Tour Montparnasse.
The Raspail market is within walking distance (Tuesday and Friday, Organic on Sunday).
One of our favorite restaurants, Joséphine Chez Dumonet, is right around the corner at 117 rue de Cherche-Midi. Montparnasse 1900, 59 blvd Montparnasse, has a gorgeous art nouveau interior (vintage) with very good food at moderate prices.
There%26#39;s Inno at 35 rue du Depart (think Super WalMart), along with a Monoprix, Franprix and G20 within blocks (supermarkets).

I%26#39;ve just returned from Paris on April 6 and had rented an appartment close to the La Motte Picket metro. I walked in your area a few times. I think the area is Ok to stay in. You are close to a metro station. This is very important. Do a lot of walking but also use the metro. What to do in that area? Visit the Catacombs, which is across the Denfert-Rochereau metro station and also ride up
the Montparnasse tower for a 360° view of Paris. If you plan on visiting a cemetery, the Montparnasse cemetery is close. You can do those 3 places in one day and then visit the other arrondissements the other days.

Montparnasse is fine, and what%26#39;s wrong w/ a view of the Eiffel Tower? Stayed at Le Meridien Montparnasse 6/06, don%26#39;t like the hotel, but the area is less touristed than then inner 6 arrondisements. Plenty of cafes/brasseries near Montparnasse Tower and lots of local markets (not really supermarkets) to buy whatever you need. Find a local cafe and try to have breakfast there each morning - you%26#39;ll likely get a warmer response by the 3rd day than somewhere closer in. Use practical french phrases and the locals will respect you and pay attention to you. Nice area, I think you%26#39;ll enjoy it as it is not overrun w/ tourists and you%26#39;ll get a more representative slice of Parisian life. Have a wonderful trip!

www.pagesjaune.fr used to have this feature where you type in an address, it will then give the pictures of the neighborhood. For instance, if you type in 86 phillippe august, it will show the exact facade of the building. So you actually know what your building looks like before you come over. Then, from there you can use an arrow to go up, down, turn right etc and you will see buildings/biz. It is though you are there. I tried to go back and find that feature so I can send you the link, but I have problems connecting to pagesjaune.fr. I suspect that feature is still there, you just have to play around a bit to find that feature on the page. Good luck!
Anyone used this feature before?

Hello USC Fan!
I, too, became mesmerized by that incredible view and am seriously considering booking the studio for next year. Have you already gone on your trip? I%26#39;d love to hear you opinion about your stay. Is the view really that amazing?
We are only staying for four nights, but there is a five night minimum so we might just book it for the view alone and miss out on the fifth night. :)
Thank you!!
