Some advice please! We will be travelling from Mirepoix near Carcasonne in the South upto the port of Boulogne and need a stopover somewhere in between! We have a 5pm crossing on the Sunday so maybe we should be looking to stop two thirds of the journey up. We were thinking Amboise or somewhere like that? Or maybe further up than that? Also will need somewhere with secure parking as we%26#39;ll have plenty of wine in the boot!
Thanks to anyone who can help.

This an excellent place and you can check it out on trip advisor as well.
All our wine was safe here!!
To get to Boulogne should be no problem and you should have time to buy a bit more at some of the local Touraine producers as well - save some room.

Thanks Neal, looks wonderful! Have just sent an email to check availability. Is there a Auchan or similiar nearby where we can pick up the wine without having it weighing us down all the way up from the South? Thanks.

There is a big one near Boulogne and they have a website for directions.
http://www.auchanboulogne.com/hypermarche.php
That would make more sense as you would not have to carry it any distance in the car then.
We buy all our wine from producers as we go round France but that is just our interest - but I do recommend it.
Here are a couple if you do have the time in that area - but don%26#39;t miss the ferry!
DOMAINE DES AUBUISIERES
Bernard FOUQUET
32, rue Gambetta
37210 Vouvray
Great vouvray and sensational sweet wines and you get a sense of how it is produced as the tasting room is through the working areas of the domaine. Very friendly as well.
If you are driving and heading along the N76 these are worth searching out a few miles east:
Domaine Bernard Ardois
Bernard ARDOIS
1063, route de Beauval
Roche
41110
SEIGY
+33 (0) 2 54 32 38 38
www.ardois-vins-de-loire.com
Domaine des Chézelles
MARCADET Alain
18, rue du Grand Mont
41140
NOYERS SUR CHER
+33 (0) 2 54 75 13 94
Both incredible value and you could stock up with lovely crisp Touraine wines for the winter
You will probably wish you had a 2nd night if you stay at this hotel as it virtually backs onto the Chateau and that is definately worth a visit if you havn%26#39;t been before.
Have a great trip

Thanks Neal, just heard back from La Roserie, unfortnately they are fully booked, gutted! Any other recommendations?
Will try and check out those places, Auchan%26#39;s aren%26#39;t normally open on a Sunday so we%26#39;ll have to go somewhere in the Loire on Saturday. We also pick up wine along the way as we%26#39;re driving around quite a bit over 2 weeks, good idea!

This is virtually next to the Roseraie and looks better than some of it%26#39;s reviews suggest.

You could also eat at the Roseraie which has a a lovely restaurant and serves great fresh local food.
We are staying here in Sept:

Can%26#39;t tell you how good it is until then but the reviews are excellent.
This one is more for the food than the rooms.

Well regarded chef here.
Hope you get fixed up.
As an alternative you could deviate a little and cut across country on your route.
This one is really good in deepest N.Burgundy

A little closer is:

Again more for the food than the rooms-chef is very good %26amp; very enthusiatic and proud of his efforts!
You could buy some Sancerre as well!

Oh dear i really don%26#39;t seem to have much luck, everywhere is booked! I thought being in September it would be quieter, or do you think its because I%26#39;m only booking for 1 night on a Saturday? Will keep looking, thanks for all your recommendations, i%26#39;m waiting on hearing back from a couple still. Thanks.

More likely to be rugby world cup.
Hope you don%26#39;t end up in a Formula 1 on the autoroute!
Keep trying

I recommend the Hotel De La Poste in Chartres - a bit further north than the Loire tho, it is true, which would give you a longer drive back to %26#39;port%26#39; on day 1.
The hotel is quite central in the city of Chartres, with a good view of the Cathederal, although you can eat in, there are good restaurants up in the town, Le Viel Maison might take your fancy (I have had one of my %26#39;best ever%26#39; French meals there).
There is a decent car park around the back of the Hotel, and you should ask if you can park in the large barn, which they lock up at night for extra security.
OF COURSE this is not such a %26#39;Wine-y%26#39; area, so may not take your fancy!
Here is a website including various accommodation options in Chartres, including the Hotel I have suggested.
cybevasion.com/hotels/france/hotels_chartres…
but if you do a %26#39;google%26#39; for it, I am sure you will find many more. It also has been reviewed on TripAdvisor.

Thanks for all your responses. Due to lack of availability in these hotels and B%26amp;Bs, we have decided to stop further up in Alencon and found a lovely little B%26amp;b there with a pool, just what you need after a long drive! I will post on here with feedback afterwards. Thanks.
