personal resources

Hello: I have a medical issue and I%26#39;m wondering if anyone else has had experience with this in Paris or other parts of France. I have Crohn%26#39;s Disease. It necessitates emergency bathroom stops without much warning. Do you think that will be a problem travelling in France?

Thanks

A serious suggestion - get a museum pass so that (aside from actually visiting museums) you can duck into the closest one and use the WC if needed. Other safe bets - department stores and high end chain hotels (if you%26#39;re dressed in a way that won%26#39;t make the doorman tihink you couldn%26#39;t possibly be a guest), as there is always one somewhere near the elevators and/or front desk. And, you can stop in any cafe, order a coffe or soda, and then duck into the restroom (might defeat the objective, however?)

I agree about department stores and museums. But having two colleagues with the same ailment, I know that there are certain food restrictions they need to follow as well as taking medication. You should keep change with you as many toilets in France are pay toilets.

You should have someone who knows French write out the foods you need to avoid so that you have it with you in restaurants. It is also useful to have extra prescriptions for your medication with the generic information as brands may be different, should you need to get anything in France.

I have both food and medicinal allergies and brought this with me last year and had no problems.

Hate to be crass but are there adult equivalents of rubber pants for emergencies--somewhat like kiddy pull ups? These would be helpful on the off chance that you might not be able to find a toilet. Drug stores here have incontinece pads, etc. but haven%26#39;t thought about whether these work for other situations.

Good Luck. You will love Paris.

In Paris, don%26#39;t hesitate to use the %26#39;curbside%26#39; toilets (roundish cabins). They are free now and have an automated self-cleaning system.

Otherwise, duck into a cafe, and have hubby order something from the bar while he waits.

some more info about public loos....

Careful planning will help, if you can research to find out where the nearest loo is for each major site etc....

McDonalds and Starbucks usually have bathrooms too.

Hi there, there are public toilets called spreaded all over the city. Carry a few 0.20 Euro coins with you all the time so that you can access them fast. Cafes and restaurants will allow you to use their toiletts. Fast food chains, museums and hotels will have public bathrooms available. You%26#39;ll be ok.
