November airfares..are there deals?

We%26#39;re all set with our hotel reservations but as I start to make airfare reservations, I see that the fares have climbed considerably (and I checked kayak.com and other sites.) Looks like it%26#39;s about $633US from NYC. eek.

From frequent fliers to Paris: Do there tend to be any airfare sales for the period around Tgiving week? We%26#39;re planning on going on the 16th (which, sadly, is a Friday night...figuring that%26#39;s going to cost us more) and stay for 7 nights).

I appreciate any advice. Just wondering if I should wait a bit before purchasing.

Check on airfares a week or so after Labor Day.

Also, Arthur Frommer%26#39;s Budget Travel magazine often has good deals listed. It looks like you%26#39;re focused on economy flights. Sometimes AMEX provides deals, like buy one business class, get one free. Speaking of free, do a web search on free frequent flyer miles. There are ways to get 40,000+ ff miles on AA quite quickly and quite cheaply. AA also has reduced mileage awards. If you%26#39;re in NYC, AA will fly you to Paris and a lot of places directly.

On top of checking the discount places, google the airlines. Air France on a last search was as cheap for a direct flight than many other %26quot;discount flights%26quot; that had 1 stop.

On or about October 20, it becomes %26quot;off peak%26quot; time to travel to Europe and fares go down.

ebean,

I found a very reasonable fare from San Francso/CDG non-stop from Air France which is, unfortunately, the only non-stop flight from SFO since United cancelled theirs last year but you%26#39;re lucky to be a New Yorker - you have more choices. Air France website gives you a window of about 10 days (a few days before and after your chosen date and if you find one considerably cheaper on those dates, change your departure date accordingly. I%26#39;m sure you can add a night or two to your hotel reservation. My fare from SFO is $778 which is roughly how much I paid for my ticket last year when I went to Beaujolais for the wine festival.

Keep checking - fares seem to change everyday. I could have waited but my hubby was getting anxious and wants to plan which restaurants we are going to try during this trip. Right now, there are more restaurants than the number of days we are going to be there.

Enjoy your search.

I would not wait until after Labor Day and certainly not until October 20th! Fares are more likely to go up than down.

And, those %26quot;as low as%26quot; sales, especially Air France, never seem to be available for your airports or your dates.

Try www.1800flyeurope.com You can figure out the airline by the times, or just give them a call - they are fantastic on the phone.
