We%26#39;re going to France in September and are spending the first three nights in Paris, train to Nice for four days and back to Paris for four nights. The four nights at the end are booked in the Latin quarter. Looking for suggestions of where to spend the first three nights that would be well located for seeing another side of the city. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I would stay in the first arrondisement on those first 3 nights. There are a number of small hotels off of the rue de Rivoli. You would be near the Louvre, and the Tuilerie Gardens--also the Pont Neuf which will get you to Notre Dame Cathedral easily. Be sure to walk to the left of the cathedral and go straight to the little bridge that will bring you to the charming Isle st. Louis. The right bank in the 1st arr. is very different from the the left bank (Latin Quarter) so you%26#39;ll have had the experience of both.

If this is your first time in Paris, I personally wouldn%26#39;t recommend staying in Montmartre. It%26#39;s a bit far from the main areas you%26#39;ll want to see. I also like the idea of staying around the Louvre. The problem is the best rates don%26#39;t tend to be in this area. This is where many of the fancy hotels are (i.e. Georges V, etc.) If you%26#39;re looking for something more affordable, consider the 7th near the Eiffel Tower where you might find a few more options, like the Hotel Muguet. Bon voyage!
