Best place to exchange money

Hi

I will be traveling from Waterloo to Paris by Eurostar tomorrow and was wondering where will I get the best exchange rate to change £ to Euros? Normally I would use travelex but don%26#39;t think I can pick up money at Waterloo.

Thanks

I%26#39;d suggest you change you money in the UK. Warning - get smaller notes, few 50s, mainly 20 and less. The counterfeiting problems has resulted in many people being suspicious of 50 and 100 - don%26#39;t even go near the 200s....you can also use visa or any other card with the smart-chip thingy (little gold square microchip thing)

Why not use an ATM machine?

Use ATM with your UK bank card

So to answer your question...

Some of the best exchange rates are near or on the Champs Elysees.

At the Franklin Roosvelt metro is the Disney store. Go down the rue Colisee right there and take a right into the little shopping area there and there is an exchange booth that usually has the best rates.

On the Champs just up the same side of the street to the Gallerie du Claridge, another good place.

Then in the same gallerie as FNAC. Stay on street level, in the rear.

These will all be within a few tenths of each other...

Unless things have changed radically in the last couple of years, I find that it%26#39;s best to change money in England before you go. Try M%26amp;S or one of the booths near railway stations (much better rates than Travelex).

Marks and Spencer offer one of the best rates, there%26#39;s a store with money exchange facilities in Covent Garden, across the road from the underground entrance.

Besides using my ATM card to get cash, I change at Multi-Change at 161 rue des Rennes (6th). They also have a branch on boulevard Saint-Germain and and rue Castiglione (1st) just a couple of doors up from the Godiva shop.

But you must be in Paris now having the time of your life. Let us know what worked best for you and share your experiences in your restaurant finds. I like eating at bistros run by former starred chefs like Cafe Constant on rue Saint Dominique in the 7th by Christian Constant formerly of Les Ambassadeurs at the Crillon. I also enjoy Le Comptoir du Relais at the carrefour de l%26#39;Odeon by Yves Camdeborde (also formerly of The Crillon).
