Only 20 hours in Paris-What to see?

I have roughly one day to spend in Paris in September(basically a long layover).

Any suggestions on what to see/do with my limited time? Also, should I stay near CDG airport with an early flight on a Tuesday morning or should I find a hotel near the major sites?

Thanks for the help!

Hello;

For a long layover, you might want to consider staying at CDG at the IBIS perhaps, (best priced rooms at the airport), then take the 20 minute ride on the RER B line to St Michel, central Paris and roam around.

St Michel stop places you across from the Islands and Notre Dame, in the Latin Quarter, walking distance to the Louvre and the Marais,

near the Vedettes du Pont Neuf if you%26#39;d like a cruise... and loads of restaurants....

Thank you Craigmore.

I%26#39;ll take your advice and try to stay near the airport.

Thanks again!

I agree that it%26#39;s probably wise to stay close to the airport. If i had to choose, I would see Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Eiffel tower in that order. Unfortunately Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower are on opposite ends of the city but the metro is easy to use. It takes roughly 40 minutes on the Metro to go from one end of Paris to the other if you know your way around during rush hour. The line is long at the main entrance at the Louvre so enter at the one off of the subway line. Check a guidebook for the specific stop where the entrance is. Pont Alexander III and the Arc de Triomphe are pretty neat too but skip Champs Elysees if you%26#39;re short on time. Very commercial and you%26#39;ll feel like you%26#39;re in the states. The neighborhoods of St. Germain des Pres and the Latin Quarter are the best. Most atmospheric thing to do is to have coffee at the Le Deux Magots cafe in the St. Germain area. Have fun!

Hi AUBurrell,

I agree with Craiqmore%26#39;s suggestion in staying close to the airport. I just stayed at the Ibis CDG Paris Nord 2 for a night catching an 6:30a flight in the morning a few days ago. The hotel was clean and quiet when I was there but noises start early when people leaving in the morning. Their shuttle can drop you to the metro, sorry I do not have the time table but you can check with them for schedule. It was a good deal for I only paid 40Euro for the night but bear in mind that it is a hotel geared for very short stay. I use my own body wash, shampoo etc.

I think you can check the Hop on and off day pass for the Seine %26quot;cruise bus%26quot; which will give you a good glimpse of many famous sights and you can pick which one to hop off. Check this link for more info:

If I might suggest for you to visit Tour L%26#39;Eiffel last after dust so you can enjoy the night view and take some awesome pictures of the illuminated tower.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy your day in Paris however you%26#39;re going to spend it and she will impress you for many returns.
