Sweet 16 birthday present

I%26#39;m taking my daughter and her friend to Paris for her 16th b-day. It will be for a week in February during their winter school break. We want to visit both Paris and London. I have no idea where to start; hotels, tours, shopping, the train from London to Paris? I know it will be cold, but how cold? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. We leave from jfk in ny.

Firstly, as to the weather. Here is a %26quot;average%26quot; weather chart for London:

bbc.co.uk/weather/…

As you can see, it is not THAT cold, generally, as it rarely hits freezing in the capital. The same is true of Paris, it rarely goes below freezing. Both cities will probably have quite dreary and, possibly, wet weather at that time of year, but nothing too cold hopefully.

As to the train to London from Paris, you want the Eurostar:

You can only book tickets on the train four months in advance, so you%26#39;ll have to wait a bit on that. It is a lovely traveling experience and if you book early enough tickets can be as cheap as £25 GBP each. Also, bare in mind that by Feburary you will probably arrive in London at St. Pancras station, not Waterloo.

There is plenty of choice for hotels in Paris and it would depend on what area of the city you want to be based in. Perhaps take a look at the suggestions on here and decide your area, first. I can recommend Montprenasse for a quieter/cheaper area and also the Latin Quarter or Saint Germain for a livelier, more central experience.

Shopping in great in both Paris and London :-)

As for tours, I am not sure, better check elsewhere for those. I can suggest a ride on the Batobus on the river Seine, though. You get tickets to ride the boat all day (or all week...) and you can do the whole river tour round the sights this way,

Hope this helps...
